What is Jury Questionnaire in a medical litigation process?

One of the first steps in the jury selection process of medical litigation is to fill out a Jury Questionnaire. Based on the conditions set out in the questionnaire, the Court determines whether a juror is eligible or exempt.

Purpose of Jury Questionnaire

• The questions on the Questionnaire are designed to give judges and attorneys some essential details about the suitability to serve as a juror in a medico-legal trial.
• Responding to these questions in writing will speed up the jury selection process and eliminate the need to ask personal or potentially embarrassing questions in open court.
• It is aid in the selection of a demographics and other factors. In general, the questionnaire is designed to detect the potential issues with juror bias, juror’s opinions, beliefs.

Jury Questionnaires Includes

Elements of Potential Jurors: Age, Gender, Ethnicity, Socio-economic status, education, occupation, marital status, Career or Life-style factors that may relate to the case.
